Mid-Term Elections: What Does It Mean For The Adult Industry?

The Democrats have taken control of both houses of Congress. What will that mean for the adult industry? Well you have an administration that has been cut off at the pass and the Republican Party, which has been kicked in the butt. Personally, I think they both are going to act like wounded animals. Their strongest issue, national security wasn’t enough to saved them. This issue and fear had been their ace in the hole since 9-11. The Republican Party has also lost some of its support from the evangelical community with all the dishonesty and corruption in Congress and the Foley affair. The evangelical community also had one of its leaders to confess to have engaged in homosexual fun and games. So the wind has been taken out of their sails and they happen to be a large part of supportl of the Republican Party. And let me tell you the Republican Party is going to do everything they can to get them back. You tell me what horse you think they are going to kick to fire up this group of sexually repressive individuals. If you are in the adult industry the target is one your back.

I’ve said it before but if not for the fact that this administration was fighting a war on two fronts then the war on the adult industry would have started. You have in the White House a so called born again Christian as the president and he appointed another born again Christian as Attorney General. They were priming up for the fight but 9-11 happened and the first term of this administration was totally consumed by this. Once the administration was re-elected they were ready to force the adult industry hands. A task force had been set up in the Department of Justice to address pornography and obscenity. The FBI started checking for 2257 compliance this year. But now the midterm elections has come and gone and the Republican Party has lost the Congress. Do you think this group of mean spirited, self-righteous individuals that are a part of the Republican Party is just going accept that they have lost power? They are going to set up their ducks in the row. They got to get the evangelical community back and attacking the adult industry is the best way to do that.

Bottom line just because the Democrats have won the control of the Congress that doesn’t mean that the hammer isn’t going to fall. Most of the new Democrats that won are so call conservative-Democrats. The Democrats have found that to win they are going to have move right of center. Honestly I don’t know how good that is and I feel that in many ways they are going to look more like Republicans than Republicans. The thing to hope for is that they will not be as anal as the folks that were thrown out of office.
